We who used that "other place" (let's face it, most of us are from tumblr) remember those damn spam bots and how we asked, raged, reported and cursed them to go away yet there they were. Year after year that problem just got worse when time passed by.

So, when I logged in yesterday evening, I saw exactly similarly named blogs with same style of description, title and avatar what I used to see in tumblr and thought: "fuck, they are here to stay now as well then, this is going to be a problem".

If huge mega corporation such as tumblr can't sort it out, how someone else can? I am sure that there's rather complex botnet doing it and they can be notoriously difficult to sort out. Every user surely comes via different IP address with completely separate session and tracking them down be quite the task. So if you want to catch them all ..Well, good luck.

So in a way I understood that tumblr was not able to do anything about it since the way they operate is very open, create an account and you're good to go.

But imagine my surprise when I've seen them all gone today, plenty of my latest followers are marked as "This blog has been banned" with no further such spam blogs (they used to be a real menace, I got around 20 new spam blogs following me per day over there) following me.

That seriously got me to think.

Bdsmlr staff, you guys managed to deal with that problem in less than 24 hours, where as Tumblr, valued in billions of dollars and managed by staff counted in hundreds couldn't get it done in 7 years?

Are you fucking kidding me?

That simply said shouldn't even be possible.

Most impressive indeed!
